Construction Industry Council President, Gordon Jenkins

Significant delays in international deliveries of key construction material, climbing costs, lack of a skilled labour force, and climate change, are some of the challenges facing the construction industry.

That’s the comments of Construction Industry Council President, Gordon Jenkins as they get ready for their conference from next Thursday to Saturday at the Warwick Fiji.

Jenkins says all these issues will be part of their speakers’ lineup to explore the challenges they are facing.

He says it has been two years since the industry has met, sidelined from planned conferences because of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Jenkins says they know that there is concern about the outdated National Building Code and that is on the speaker agenda; protecting a competitive environment will be addressed as will home sales and the rental structure.

The topics, Licensing, Training the Way Forward, OHS, Air Freight, even Bamboo Construction are part of the speakers lineup.

They will also have a tradeshow.
