As Sanatan Dharm followers across Fiji and around the world celebrate Radha Ashtami today — the sacred appearance day of Mata Radharani, the eternal consort of Lord Krishna — the Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji encourages people to mark the occasion with prayers, fasting, and reflection.
Devotees are gathering in homes and mandirs across the country to sing bhajans, perform Radha-Krishna puja, and honour the values Mata Radha stands for.
The Sabha says Radha Ashtami is more than just a festival, it reminds everyone of the importance of devotion and selfless love.
Mata Radha is considered the greatest devotee of Krishna, showing what it truly means to love and serve with humility and full surrender, and her love is not only symbolic but is seen as the purest way to connect with God.
The Sabha also explains that in Sanatan belief, Radha represents divine energy (Shakti), and Krishna is the one who holds that energy (Shaktimaan) and together, they show that God and divine energy are always connected.
Radha Ashtami also teaches that devotion is at the heart of Sanatan Dharm, and that more than rituals or knowledge, it is love and a deep connection to God that lead one to spiritual freedom.
Today’s celebrations across Fiji are also helping to strengthen the spiritual and cultural values of the Sanatan community.
Through prayer, song, and togetherness, devotees are reminded of their bond with the divine and with each other.
The Sabha encourages everyone to follow Mata Radha’s example — to live with truth, kindness, humility, and love for all beings.
