There is no determination yet on the cause of the fire which destroyed a three-bedroom house in Wairuku in Rakiraki yesterday.
Police say there were no casualties.
A 53-year-old woman and her son lived in the house.
According to Police, the woman who was inside the house managed to escape, while her son was away when the incident occurred.
The cost of damage is estimated to be $138,000.
Investigations continue.
