Qaqa Young Feminist Network representative Milika Leba of Kadavu calls out on service providers to prioritise services and campaigns for young women in maritime areas.

This was highlighted during the 16 days Campaign, Bodies and Movements for Change event organised by Diverse Voices and Action for Equality (DIVA), feminists, activists and community members.

Leba says young women in Kadavu and other maritime areas face violence in their homes, villages, and communities and they do not have the kind of response that the women of rural areas have.

She says this is not just from the reported cases but seen through cultural ways and religious beliefs of responding to different types of violence that young women face.

The representative further says THE types of responses these women get are not enough IN helping them to fight violence.

She says they feel left out, shut down, and not able to voice out what they face due to the types of cultural responses they get therefore they ask for the service providers to prioritise the maritime areas as well.

Meanwhile, DIVA also launched the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Booklet on My Body, My Human Rights and My Activism on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights in Fiji which highlights stories of Violence, Discrimination and inequality from people in different areas.
