$35,000 worth of CCTV surveillance monitoring system has been installed at the My Suva Picnic Park to ensure more safety for people who use the park.
Handing over the CCTV system this morning, Suva City Council Special Administrator Chandu Umaria said considering the safety of the public, the council considered the installation of the cameras around the park.
Umaria said the cameras will go a long way in monitoring the safety and security issues for the children and public including illegal activates and vandalism to council properties.
Police Commissioner Bernardus Groenewald said he applauds the partnership work shown by the Police and the community.
The four high definition cameras which have been set up by Professional Electronics have been placed in locations where the Police at the community post can view the whole area of the park.
The CCTV monitoring system was also donated by Professional Electronics.
The cameras have night vision.
