Cabinet has endorsed the review of the 2013 Fiji National Curriculum Framework.
An Education Commission was previously formed to carry out a comprehensive review of the education system, including the curriculum, teacher quality, school leadership, and institutional frameworks.
This followed concerns about how best Fiji can align the school curriculum with the needs of the job market and better prepare students for the future.
Meanwhile, the review of the National Curriculum will ensure that the education system remains effective, relevant and inclusive.
Cabinet says the review will meet the learning expectations of all students, be benchmarked against international standards of the 21st century, incorporate lifelong learning and improve monitoring, evaluation and assessment of learning outcomes.
It will also integrate technology-based learning and strengthen a more responsive curriculum.
A Taskforce has been established to oversee the initial planning for the review.
