Cabinet has endorsed the National Security and Defence Review.

While making the announcement, Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka says the independent review is led by former RFMF Chief of Staff Colonel Jim Sanday, with support from the Editorial Board.

Rabuka says the Editorial Board comprises of Professor Satish Chand, Assistant Professor Ana Rokomokoti and Associate Professor Shalendra Singh.

He says the report was developed following extensive consultations with stakeholders across the Government, the community and the civil society.

Cabinet says the review team will release a public version of the final report and hold a public validation workshop by the end of October 2024.

They say an inter-agency task force led by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration will begin drafting a national security strategy for completion by December of this year.

The National Security Strategy will take into account the findings and recommendations of the National Security and Defence Review in its final report.
