Permanent Secretary for Health, Doctor James Fong has made it clear that a COVID-19 positive person has to isolate for 14 days and they will get a clearance letter however those that are in quarantine for being a contact should be isolated and may only get tested if they are symptomatic.

These are the health measures due to the increasing number of cases and severe cases and no home swabbing being done by the Health Ministry.

In an interview with fijivillages, Doctor Fong says their focus is dealing with the positive patients.


Doctor Fong says in this phase, they cannot continue to test for COVID on days 1, 4 and 12 for the contacts as that was the formula for the containment phase.


He calls on people to be patient as these changes are also necessary.


Please follow all COVID safe protocols and ensure that you self isolate if you have been in contact with a positive person.

You have to go to the swabbing clinic to get swabbed however please ensure that you follow all the COVID measures.
