The Citizens Constitutional Forum has welcomed the naming of Professor Yash Ghai as head of the constitutional Commission however it said the delay in naming the full Commission is a job half done.
CCF CEO Reverend Akuila Yabaki said they do not understand why they have not mentioned the full Commission and that there cannot be a Commission with only two people whereby they are still looking for another two.
Former deputy prime minister Taufa Vakatale and academic and former MP Satendra Nandan are the two public figures that have been named.
The names of a local and an international expert will be announced in due course to make up the five member commission.
Meanwhile one of the architects of Fiji’s 1997 constitution, the Canberra based academic Dr Brij Lal said the involvement of Kenyan professor Yash Ghai will lend credibility to the process of developing a new constitution.
