The man who stole butter from a supermarket in Suva will be sentenced tomorrow.

Abdul Shafil was produced in the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.

A video of him removing eight 500-gram Rewa Butter packs from inside his pants had gone viral.

The total value of the stolen butter was $124.64.

Shafil's lawyer, Anil Chand, in his mitigation submission, urged the court to consider the ridicule Shafil endured on social media, as well as the pain and suffering of his family.

The police prosecution did not make a submission and will rely on the court.
