A businessman was issued a public health infringement notice for failing to comply with orders pertaining to the closure of business during curfew hours.

Police say the man was allegedly operating a shop in Tuirara, Makoi during curfew hours whereby he was also fined for breaching curfew regulations.

209 public health infringement notices were issued over the last 48 hour period. Police say the worrying trend continues where 105 people were booked for failing to wear a mask in public.

47 people were booked for social gatherings, 36 bookings were made for breach of curfew and 18 reports were recorded for failure to wear a mask in a public service vehicle.

Two public service drivers were fined in the Western Division for failing to adhere to the 50% passenger capacity regulation.
