The driver of the bus involved in an accident along Stinson Parade in Suva where a woman lost her life is expected to be charged today.

Police say the 23-year-old woman was hit by a bus while walking across the pedestrian crossing.

They say the driver is expected to be produced in court on Monday.

Meanwhile, Nasese Buses says they are incredibly saddened by the accident that involved one of their buses and will fully cooperate with authorities who are investigating while reexamining their internal mechanisms to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.

The company says they regularly reiterate to their drivers that nothing is more important than the lives of pedestrians and passengers, and, while tragic, this accident is unacceptable.

They send their deepest condolences to family and friends who have irreversibly lost a loved one.
