The Ministry of Education’s Director National Service Delivery, Timoci Bure

The Ministry of Education’s Director National Service Delivery, Timoci Bure has stressed that school managements and school heads need to submit their audited financial report, Annual General Meeting minutes and the updated student roll in order to access their free education grants.

Bure highlighted this during the Talanoa Session at Ballentine Memorial School when asked by the school management if the free education grants can be distributed in a timely manner as they have not received their grant for this term.

He says they have started distributing the grants from last week.

Bure says all the schools that have not received this grant need to provide their audited financial report, AGM minutes and the updated student roll.

When questioned on whether they can get government assistance on the finishing of their Dining Hall, Bure confirmed that in the current budget, money was allocated to upgrade Ballentine Memorial School, but because of the effects of COVID-19 and the COVID-19 Supplementary Budget, this money was realigned.

He says it has been proposed for the next budget and they will await the approval.

Bure says a maximum of $50,000 is available for the school building grant assistance.
