Sainimili Bulounivunisea delivered a stunning performance to claim gold for Lautoka in the Under-14 girls shot put, adding another medal to the team’s growing tally at the Fiji Primary School Athletics Tuckers Ice Cream Competition.
The 14-year-old from Bukuya, Ba, was competing in the event for the very first time, and her triumph left her visibly emotional.
Sainimili says she did not expect to win, saying that the competition was tough.
Her victory has helped solidify Lautoka’s lead in the girls’ division.
