Bula FC has signed defender Gabriele Matanisiga as the first player in the club’s history, marking a significant milestone for Fiji’s newest professional football team.

The 30-year-old Matanisiga joins the club from Rewa FC and has earned 18 caps for Fiji.

He has also played for Wellington Olympic and has received awards such as the FMF IDC 2025 Player of the Match and the Pacific Community Cup 2025 Golden Ball.

Matanisiga says that he once worked as a sugarcane cutter and dropped out of school early to support his younger siblings in pursuing their careers, all while fitting in his own football training.

He says becoming a professional footballer and joining Bula FC is a dream come true.

Bula FC says that more signings will be announced in the coming days.
