The art exhibition with the theme "Brave New World" is to showcase local talents and an art gallery that was established six months ago for those who love art.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Fiji, Professor Shaista Shameem highlighted this during an interview with fijivillage News after the art exhibition at the UniFiji Samabula Campus.

She says Mason James Lee was appointed to run art classes with students who wanted to express themselves through art.

She says we need to ensure that students express themselves and observe other artists to see education as more than what is being taught and be able to depict things and craft in reality.

She says as a higher education institute they believe that the education system in Fiji has a gap in terms of art, and they wanted to set this up to ensure artists had a safe space. Artist, Mason James Lee says artists are eager to express themselves through paintings and photography that will tell people a story in a unique way.

Lee says it is a great platform for him and other artists to display their art the way they depict things surrounding them and how individuals find it unique.

He says art needs to be included in schools so that it provides students with a platform much earlier in their life.
