Bower reveals dropping catches in training after putting on weight

George Bower and the Crusaders’ scrum get the edge on the Hurricanes in Chirstchurch last Sunday.

Crusaders prop George Bower has revealed how he was continuously dropping the ball in training during the start of the year after putting on 7kg weight.

Bower put on the extra weight when he was in Australia with the All Blacks squad last year.

He says he did not realize what was wrong until forwards coach Jason Ryan pulled him aside and pointed out the 7kgs he had added to his frame.

Bower adds he feels the extra weight coming through and one of his goals as a front rower is to dominate collisions.

He says he feels that extra weight will help him this year.

The Crusaders will take on the Chiefs in the Super Rugby Aotearoa at 6.05pm Saturday while the Blues will face the Highlanders at 2.35pm Sunday.
