A nightclub bouncer is in custody following a brawl outside a Suva nightclub between some rugby league players and nightclub staff.

6 people remain in hospital due to injuries sustained in the brawl yesterday morning.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu says they have started to round up a few people involved, and they continue to search for others.

ACP Driu says a team of officers from Totogo Police Station were in Namatakula Village yesterday and this morning, collecting statements from involved individuals and witnesses.

He is calling on parties involved to cooperate with them in providing statements and evidence.

Police are also warning people making threats on social media to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands.

ACP Driu says emotions are still high at the moment, and they are calling on parties involved to try and remain calm because taking matters into their own hands will not resolve anything, it will only make things worse.

Police will continue to monitor social media posts and will be on standby to ensure that no one takes the law into their hands.

ACP Driu says in welcoming the New Year, Police will continue to be out there for the safety of everyone.
