Body of the late former Vice President arrives on the island of Bau

The body of the late former Vice President, Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi has arrived on the island of Bau.

The people of Kiuva escorted the body from CWM Hospital to Bau in the last hour.

Our reporter on Bau island, Rusiate Baleilevuka says preparations continue for the late Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi’s state funeral tomorrow.

Meanwhile the Tongan delegation led by nobles of Vaha’i presented their reguregu in Bau earlier this afternoon.

The King of Tonga Aho’eitu Tupou VI was not present at the reguregu but Fijivillage has received confirmation that he will attend the funeral tomorrow.

The government delegation led by President Jioji Konrote presented their reguregu earlier today.

The delegation included Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, cabinet ministers, high ranking officials from the Fiji Police Force and the RFMF. 

The traditional warriors from Namara have also taken their positions on Bau Island.

The funeral service for the late Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi will start at 10am tomorrow before he is laid to rest at the chiefly burial tomb.
