You can expect to see the best work of local designers on the runway of the 15th Fiji Fashion Week with celebrated Australian and New Zealand designers this evening which is promising to be a visual extravaganza as local performance artists are coming together for a show as well.

The show will feature renowned Australian fashion designer Akira Isogawa, established Maori designers, Bobby Luke and Kiri Nathan as well as the 22 local designers which includes Anton Conway, Zulfikar Ali, Hupfield Hoerder, Epeli Tuibeqa, Letila Mitchell, Harsha Harshmeetal, Hosanna Kabakoro, Laisiasa Davetawalu, Moira Solvalu, Jacque Whippy, Su Samuals, Esiteri Talakuli and Cecilia Fong, Tracey Farrington.

Renowned photographer Ik Aldama who has also works with international brands like Balenciaga says the FJFWxPalmolive 2022 is going to be better than other shows such as the London Fashion Week.

He says so many designers, especially in the main international cities only focus on finding profit and what sells.

Aldama says there is going to be more authentic and real fashion at the Fiji Fashion Week.

Sonny Vandevelde who is known for photographing at the backstage of international stage shows says Fiji Fashion Show has the purest energy out of all the shows around the world.

He says in comparison, he is dealing with other shows where it is purely about commerce but in Fiji, especially with models, it is a pure joy to be able to photograph a real moment of Fijian models who are just so happy.

Nicholas Huxley who is the Head of the Fashion Design Studio at Sydney Institute, TAFE and has been mentoring local designers says they are happy selling in Fiji but Fiji Fashion Week can be seen all over the world so they must stop thinking purely about here and think about the world and they could get international sales.

He adds his dream is that every resort in Nadi should have in their stores clothes designed and made in Fiji and those could travel around the world and eventually get enormous respect for the Fiji Fashion industry.

Sydney Morning Herald Fashion Editor, Damien Woolnough, Hapers Bazaar Fashion News Director Patty Huntington and fashion media expert Melissa Hoyer are also in the country for the Fiji Fashion Week.

There are only limited tickets available for the shows today and tomorrow.

It will be live on FM96 Instagram page.

The Resort Cruise Runway will be tonight and the Resort Luxe Runway will be tomorrow night.

The shows are expected to start at 6pm at the Vodafone Arena.
