Wests Tigers captain, Benji Marshall is leading the tally for missed tackles in the NRL and is unlikely to win back his place this weekend when they will take on the Cowboys.

NRL reporter James Hooper says Fox Sports Lab shows that Marshall has missed 18 tackles, has had six try-causes and seven line-break causes.

Hopper says this means the Kiwi Test captain, a premiership-winner and a legend of the club needs to work on fixing the defensive elements of his game.

He says the call to remove Marshall from the team last week is the right one from coach Michael Maguire.

The 35-year-old contract with the Tigers ends this year but he has also been linked to a new rugby league franchise in New York, which is striving to enter England's League One third tier competition in 2021.

The Wests Tiger will face the Cowboys at 7.30pm Staurday.

The Knights will take on the Broncos at 9.50pm Thursday, the Rabbitohs will play the Warriors at 8pm Friday while the Panthers will face the Storm at 9.55pm Friday.
