Bail has been denied for the six men alleged to have been transporting over 26kg of marijuana bound for Suva.

They were intercepted by police in the Kadavu waters last week.

Letia Tokoni, Saimoni Mule, Sakiusa Timi, Apisai Daveta, Tevita Vuki and Timoci Lolohea are charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

Lolohea also faces an additional charge of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs.

They appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court this morning where a bail application was made.

While denying bail, the court noted the large quantity of drugs and public interest in the matter.

The matter has been adjourned to the 13th of October for plea.
