Austria announces ban on people entering from Italy in an attempt to stop coronavirus spreading

Austria has announced a ban on people entering the country from Italy unless they carry a medical certificate, in an attempt to stop coronavirus spreading.

Travel is also restricted across Italy and public gatherings are forbidden. The latest figures from Italy show 463 deaths and 9,172 cases.

1. Iran reports 54 deaths, its highest figure yet over a 24-hour period.

A sixth person dies in the UK after testing positive for the virus. There have now been 373 confirmed cases in the UK.

Lebanon has also recorded its first coronavirus death.
