Unity Fiji Leader, Savenaca Narube

Unity Fiji Party Leader Savenaca Narube says they welcome the announcement of the election date and the entire country has been expecting the announcement for a very long time.

He adds it has come 6 months after the official launch of the campaign back in April.

The party leader says this is the first government that has used the election date as a campaign weapon and this is shameful.

He feels the election date should be announced at least 6 months before the election date to create a level playing field for all parties and facilitates a free and fair election.

Narube adds the party has been ready to go to the elections for some time.

He adds they have announced 51 of their 55 candidates and they will be announcing the balance in the next few weeks.

Narube says their manifesto will be announced on Friday, and it will be centred on restoring hope and freedom.

He adds they will continue their awareness drive across the country.

The party leader says what the people like about Unity Fiji is they are new and do not carry any baggage from the past, they have a clean and credible record of past leadership in the country, they have unmatched skills in economic and financial management and he says they have the solutions to revive the economy with their financial positions, provide more jobs and narrow the widening gap between the rich and the poor.
