Ana Mataiciwa appointed as Acting Supervisor of Elections

President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere on the advice of the Constitutional Offices Commission has appointed Ana Mataiciwa as Acting Supervisor of Elections.

Mataiciwa is currently Manager Legal at the Fijian Elections Office.

Attorney General, Siromi Turaga had confirmed Mohammed Saneem was suspended by Ratu Wiliame on the advice of the Constitutional Offices Commission in accordance with section 137(4) of the Constitution of the Republic of Fiji.

Turaga said the Commission received a complaint of misbehaviour warranting the removal from office of Saneem.

He confirmed that the Commission resolved at its meeting held last Wednesday, that the complaint needs to be investigated by a Tribunal pursuant to section 137(3)(a)(i) of the Constitution.

Turaga said Saneem is suspended pending the appointment of a Tribunal and subsequent investigation into the complaint made.

Saneem’s suspension is with full pay.
