Amelia Komaisavai has been appointed as the new Director of the Immigration Department.

Komaisavai served as the Chief Policy and Research Officer in the Office of the Prime Minister before her appointment as the Acting Director of the Immigration Department in August 2020.

The Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister, and Immigration, Yogesh Karan says the appointment could not have come at a better time with the advancement of the Immigration Department’s information communication and technological Infrastructure.

Karan further says Komaisavai is no stranger to the position and has performed exceptionally well in the recruitment selection process ahead of the many potential candidates that vied for this position.

Komaisavai holds a Certificate in Professional Diploma in Business, a Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of the South Pacific.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister and Minister for Immigration, Voreqe Bainimarama also welcomed Komaisavai’s appointment and congratulated her for being appointed as the first female Director of the Department.
