Saul Canelo Alvarez has retained his Super Middleweight title after defeating Gennady Golovkin also known as GGG, in a unanimous decision this afternoon.

This is also their trilogy fight, where the pair fought to a draw in the first bout before Alvarez edged ‘GGG’ via a majority decision in the second fight, although many observers felt that was not a fair result.

After a cagey start, Alvarez piled on the pain to Golovkin in their battle for the undisputed super middleweight titles.

Both men looked to work from distance, although Alvarez was the more active of the two.

As the fight has gone on, Alvarez has started to ramp up the intensity and has already tagged Golovkin on multiple occasions, leaving his face with several marks after just four rounds of action.

Two judges scored the fight 115-113 while the third judge scored the fight 116-112 to Alvarez.
