Arvind Chand who allegedly murdered a woman in Lami and set the property on fire last month will take his plea on the 25th of this month.

He has been charged with one count of murder and one count of arson.

The defence lawyer asked High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo if Chand could take his plea at an earlier date but Justice Temo told him this is a serious case and they should be patient.

Justice Temo told the court this is not the type of case where someone stole a tin fish from a supermarket.

35-year-old Fai Yen Chan was found unconscious by National Fire Authority officers when attending to a report of a fire at her residence.

Chand has been further remanded in custody.
