Minister for Education, Premila Kumar says all schools that she has visited are in compliance with the COVID safe protocols.

She highlighted this during her visits to the Nakauvadra High School, Rakiraki Methodist Primary School, Navatu Primary School and Penang Sangam Primary School yesterday.

Kumar says the purpose of the visit was to experience the entire process of the reopening of schools.

She says schools have temperature screening checks done, they have a desk where sanitizing is done and the wash facilities are in order.

Kumar stresses teachers have been trained to take care of children if they fall ill and they know what to do if they do get ill.

The Minister further says the purpose of the visit was also to strengthen the partnership with the school management committees.

Kumar adds she shared a few of their policies with the school management committee regarding the use of the Free Education Grant that the Education Ministry gives out to different schools which is managed by the school management committee and the heads of schools.

Schools will reopen for Years 8 to 13 on Monday 24th January 2022.
