Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong.

The Health Ministry says all quarantine measures have been lifted.

This means there is no more travel partner system and anyone fully vaccinated and shows a negative test can come into Fiji.

It is effective from today as announced in the Revised 2021-2022 National Budget by Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

From today, all travellers need to pre-book their arrival Rapid Antigen Test at entrytestfiji.com.

All travellers will need to show at check-in is proof that they are fully vaccinated, a negative Rapid Antigen Test or PCR COVID-19 test, travel insurance and pre-booked Rapid Antigen Test.

Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong says their border protection will be mediated by the fact that travellers are vaccinated, have a negative pre-departure test and will be tested in-country by a rapid antigen test done between 48 hours and 72 hours after the arrival.

He says there will be exemptions for those with fit to fly certificates.

Doctor Fong adds as such the onus is now, more firmly on the individual to keep themselves safe with the measures that are available and known to be effective.

He says they leave it to you to assess your own level of risk and decide to continue to take measures such as masking and social distancing.

Doctor Fong stresses that if you are at higher risk of severe disease should you get infected with COVID-19, they strongly recommend that you continue to wear a mask in public, particularly in crowded indoor spaces.

He adds the lifting of masking and other mandates and easing of travel restrictions, is not a sign that the risk of outbreak and resurgence of COVID-19 is over.

Doctor Fong further says it is only a reflection of Health Ministry‘s appreciation that all that can be done to engage the community to live safely with the risk of COVID-19 has been done.
