Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro

All schools in the Northern Division will be closed today due to the worsening weather conditions affecting the region.

Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro says this decision has been made in collaboration with the National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDMO) and the Commissioner Northern, following the continued adverse weather conditions.

The Minister has also extended an apology for the delay in announcement of the school closure and apologised for any inconvenience this may have caused.

He is urging all Heads of Schools in the Northern Division to remain in close communication with their Management Committees, District Education Offices, and the Divisional Emergency Operations Centre for further updates.

The Ministry says that schools in other divisions remain open, and parents and guardians are encouraged to use their discretion depending on the safety of their local conditions.

They say that they will continue to closely monitor the weather situation and provide timely updates on when schools in the Northern Division will reopen.
