Tyrel Lomax's return to action was cut short this morning as the All Blacks' top tighthead prop suffered another injury in their 73-0 thrashing of Uruguay in the Rugby World Cup.

Lomax came back for the All Blacks' win over Italy following a month-long absence after sustaining a freak knee cut which needed 30 stitches in the 35-7 warm-up defeat by South Africa.

The Italy game, and the clash with Uruguay, were meant to get him back into top shape for the quarter-finals, where New Zealand will face one of the Pool B heavyweights – likely to be Ireland.

Coach Ian Foster says it looks like a small strain, they won't know for another 24 hours but he was looking okay.

Meanwhile, France will take on Italy at 7am tomorrow, Wales will play Georgia at 1am Sunday, England will meet Samoa at at 3.45am Sunday, Ireland will face Scotland at 7am Sunday, Japan will take on Argentina at 11pm Sunday, Tonga will meet Romania at 3.45am Monday and Fiji will play Portugal at 7am Monday.
