Gladness Simpson of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School settled for silver, and Sereana Bakeibau of Wainibuka Secondary School took the bronze.

Lutu says the challenges faced during the preparations did not deter her focus on trying to win gold in the 3,000 and 1,500 metres events.

She says she aims to further her career overseas.

Lutu also dedicates her win to her parents for their continuous support.
