The Ministry of Agriculture Veterinary team celebrated Boxing Day by treating animals in the Northern Division that were affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

They were in villages and communities in Dreketi and Labasa today and they aim to be in Seaqaqa and the rest of Labasa tomorrow.

The veterinarians will continue joining the Ministry's disaster assessment team for the next seven days.

Minister for Agriculture Dr Mahendra Reddy says 2 qualified veterinarians are in the North who will immediately attend to the livestock which has been affected by the cyclone.

Reddy says a veterinary clinic has been set-up in Lekutu, Bua and a mobile clinic will be servicing farmers in the Northern Division.

Reddy has urged farmers in the North if they have infected or injured livestock to contact their officers in Lekutu and they will immediately respond.
