Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka

There is information coming through that the coalition partners have told Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka that the status quo should remain in cabinet for now, and that there is no need for a cabinet reshuffle.

fijivillage News has been informed that this discussion has taken place this week.

However Rabuka continues his consultations on the appointment of the Attorney General before a public announcement is made.

Sources confirm Rabuka had a People’s Alliance Party meeting, and also had a meeting with the coalition government partners - National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad and SODELPA Leader, Viliame Gavoka.

It has been stressed that whatever decision is made will be based on the rule of law and the constitutional principles and requirements.

fijivillage News understands that a person from outside parliament was considered to be the next Attorney General, while Filimoni Vosarogo was to take up the Minister for Justice portfolio and Siromi Turaga was likely to take up the Lands and Mineral Resources portfolio.

Rabuka will have a press conference this hour in relation to the cabinet meeting yesterday. You can watch the live coverage of the press conference on our facebook page, fijivillage.
