It is a super proud moment for the Rounds family and the whole of Fiji as Los Angeles based, Abraham Rounds who has links to Fiji, walked up to the 2024 Grammy Awards stage to get the Best Alternative Jazz Album Award.

The award was for The Omnichord Real Book by Meshell Ndegeocello.

Meshell also thanked Abraham Rounds on stage.

Abraham was the co-producer, co-writer and also played drums for the award-winning work.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Abraham’s father and musician, Victor Rounds says it is amazing and they are still over the moon.

Victor says his son was born in Sydney.

He says Abraham comes from a long line of immediate family members involved in music.

Victor says his brother, John had a music band in the 60s in Suva called the Silhouettes, and his other brother, Gordon had a band called the Melody Spinners.

Abraham’s aunt, who is a former media personality and former Minister, Bernadette Rounds Ganilau, has also posted about Abraham.

She says my nephew Abraham Rounds stands in the background with the Grammy.

She writes that Abe is her drummer and vocalist.
