SODELPA MP, Mosese Bulitavu says they want SODELPA to sort out its financial and administrative issues as he says the SODELPA caucus members are no longer signatories of the parliamentary grant that is given to the party and the elected members of the party also do not have a say on the funds held by SODELPA.

Bulitavu says governance remains a major concern and he has also written to the SODELPA General Secretary, Lenaitasi Duru. He says he is concerned that there are about 60 complaints and there is still no general election or budget plan.

He says the General Secretary has to come out clean given the SODELPA caucus is the main funder of the party, not only through the parliamentary grant but also through MPs deductions from their salaries to the party account which runs the administration of the party and pays the salaries of the staff.

Bulitavu says the last financial report to the SODELPA caucus was last November or December, and he claims the General Secretary is still evading them. Insert : Bulitavu On Grant VN Aug 31st

He also says SODELPA is divided as a faction is led by the SODELPA Leader, Viliame Gavoka, some MPs with little votes and party executives while the other faction is led by the Leader of the Opposition, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu who is supported by majority of the elected MPs.

SODELPA General Secretary, Lenaitasi Duru has refuted Bulitavu’s allegations.

He says their audited accounts are submitted to the Registrar and the party’s management board had made a ruling that MPs that had been implicated in investigations by FICAC are to recuse themselves from all committees within the party. This resulted in the change of the signatories
