The first AUSMAT team that arrived in the country last month to assist the Health Ministry in its fight against COVID-19 has completed their 28 days of service.

The Alpha team arrived in the country on the 22nd of last month, had a 10 day quarantine period because all were fully vaccinated and immediately went into work mode.

The team provided support in health system management and infection prevention control, as well as assessing Fiji’s priority health needs.

Australian High Commissioner to Fiji John Feakes says the only way we can defeat this virus is by working and pulling together, but it will take every single person to do it.

He says the Alpha team have been working very hard in the short time they were in Fiji and the country appreciates the counsel and advice from the team.

Meanwhile, the second AUSMAT team, known as the Bravo team, arrived in the country last week and will continue to assist the Ministry in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

They will be in the country for the next 28-days.
