Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says they do not interfere in the affairs of other political parties while National Federation Party MP, Lenora Qereqeretabua says NFP is not a two men rule.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the fact is FijiFirst and SODELPA listed their donors list and NFP did not.

Qereqeretabua says that NFP is transparent and accountable, and raised the question on whether the FijiFirst has been having any AGMs.

She says that as NFP’s Vice President she knows what is happening in her party and that NFP is transparent and accountable.

Qereqeretabua adds that the menu that NFP had during their fundraiser is probably well below the standard that FijiFirst has.

Meanwhile, Sayed-Khaiyum and National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad today clashed in parliament about the list of donors of NFP.

While debating on the Companies Amendment Bill, Sayed-Khaiyum said last week someone from FijiFirst wrote to the Registrar of Political Parties because FijiFirst had their list of donors published and they wanted to find out if NFP and SODELPA are compliant.

He says that SODELPA is compliant and the response they got is that the Fijian Elections Office is currently dealing with compliance matters in getting NFP to provide its list of donors.

NFP leader Professor Biman Prasad then raised a point of order saying that the list of donors is with the Registrar of Political Parties and not to bring the issue that is with the independent office of the Supervisor of Elections.

Prasad says Sayed-Khaiyum will have the pleasure to see the list of donors.

He says when the two largest political parties can comply with the law what is wrong with NFP not complying.

Meanwhile, Registrar of Political Parties, Mohammed Saneem had confirmed variances had been identified in the NFP’s Financial Disclosures against the Annual Audited Accounts for 2018.

Saneem said once the variances have been properly accounted in the disclosures and appropriate corrections made, members of the public will be able to access the most correct accounts of the NFP.
