Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad

Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says NFP Leader Professor Biman Prasad makes claims such as $500 million being wasted by government but there is nothing there to back those claims while Prasad says government went on a borrowing spree from 2015 to 2018 and there must have been a wastage of $500 million a year.

While speaking during the motion to debate That Parliament debates the ‘Review of the 2017-2018 Whole of Government Audit Reports Consolidated Report, Sayed-Khaiyum says Prasad says there was a economic contraction in 2019.

Sayed-Khaiyum further says it was a contraction of 0.6 percent and Prasad does not mention prior to that, there was nine consecutive years of economic growth.

Prasad says if there is no value for money examination by the Public Accounts Committee which reports to parliament, you are bound to create a situation where the taxpayers funds will be wasted.
