Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is requesting for people to be patient and adds all those who meet the criteria will receive their $360 unemployment assistance.

As of today, government has paid out $83.8 million to 232,893 Fijians under this scheme.

Sayed-Khaiyum is calling on people who have not received the payment to bear with them because they are still carrying out the verification process.

He says everyone is expecting the payment on the same day.

Sayed-Khaiyum has revealed that due to a technical glitch, about 1,867 Digicel customers who do not qualify also received the payment in the last few days.

He says these payments have all been reversed.

The Attorney General has also highlighted that during their $50 and $90 assistance scheme earlier in the year, some people had managed to receive the assistance more than one.

He says these people have applied for the $360 payment as well.

Sayed-Khaiyum says rather than taking criminal action against them, they have deducted the extra amount that these people were paid the last time.

For people who have applied but have not received the first dose of the vaccine yet, Sayed-Khaiyum says they are giving these people time till Friday.

He says if they get their first dose by this Friday and provide proof, then they can also get their $360.
