The new M.D Raviravi boat for the Raviravi Health Center in Beqa will help nurses, doctors and medical professionals to provide better service delivery to the people of Beqa.

Akilio Boseiwaqa, who is a Medical officer on Beqa Island says there have been challenges of transportation and facilities faced by the nurses and medical professionals in terms of service delivery because sometimes they don’t have money or fuel for transport.

He says the new boat will ease these challenges and provide better assistance to the people.

While handing over the boat and visiting the Beqa Health Centre and Raviravi Nursing Station, Minister for Health Dr Atonio Lalabalavu says this is part of their commitment in trying to reach to all the facilities, conduct checks, and look at the welfare of the staff.

He says there are challenges due to climate change and infrastructure as well such as, electricity and power.

However he says, they will work together with the Ministry of Waterways and other relevant authorities to protect the health center and the foreshore.

Dr. Lalabalavu says the commissioning of the new boat will allow medical professionals to reach other villagers and settlements and also provide better support.

He says this also brings satisfaction and relief to the people by supporting them in their work.
