A police officer who allegedly raped a woman at the Valelevu Police single men’s barracks yesterday morning is on the run.
Acting Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci who is acting in the absence of ACP Juki Fong Chew who is overseas for an official engagement has directed the quick arrest of the suspect, as he fled the scene following the alleged incident.
ACP Raikaci has directed the investigation be expedited, and the investigation file be submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution for independent legal advice as soon as possible.
He says progress on the investigation will be provided in due course.
The investigation by the Criminal Investigations Department’s Major Crime Unit continues.
