93 teams for 49th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s

The 49th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s will have a total of 93 teams competing this year.

Marist 7s President Lawrence Tikaram confirmed this during the launch at Paradise Beverages, saying there will be 48 men’s teams, 9 women’s teams, U18-21 will have 24 teams, U18 boys 6 and U18 girls 6 teams.

Tikaram says there are some changes to the tournament format this year whereas on Thursday, all pool games for the U18 to U21 divisions will be completed, along with the women’s pool games and eliminations.

He adds the first round of eliminations for the U18 to U21 divisions would also take place on the same day.

The President also highlighted that the women’s rugby finals will be held on Day 2.

The total prize money for the competition is $45,000.

The games will be held from the 20th to the 22nd of March at the HFC Bank Stadium.
