Education Minister Rosy Akbar says the average daily student attendance rate in schools around the country has been around 89 to 91%.

Akbar says this is a normal attendance rate during normal times and she is happy with it.

She says in terms of those students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, they are leaving it to the heads of schools to liaise with the parents and see what assistance the students need.

Akbar says she will have a post COVID-19 discussion with all heads of schools across the country starting tomorrow.

She will start her discussion with the Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki heads of schools tomorrow.

Akbar says heads of schools will make presentations at these discussions and that will include the numbers of students that have been assisted with lunch and students who need extra transport assistance.

She will be meeting with Nadi, Lautoka and Sigatoka heads of schools on Friday.
