$88.2M paid to over 245,000 Fijians under the Govt’s unemployment assistance

More than 245,000 Fijians have received the $360 cash assistance under Government’s unemployment scheme.

The total payout so far stands at $88.2 million.

The Acting Permanent Secretary for Economy, Shiri Gounder says the applicants that have not been paid also includes those whose vaccination status could not be verified.

Gounder says they are working with the Ministry of Health and other government agencies to verify this.

Around 345,000 Fijians applied for the first round of payment.
