75 police officers graduate from Basic Recruits Course

Minister for Defence National Security and Policing Inia Seruiratu has conveyed his appreciation for the operations conducted by the police officers since Fiji’s first COVID-19 case was declared, and the operations carried out during TC Harold.

Speaking at the graduation of 75 officers from the Basic Recruits Course, Seruiratu also acknowledged the hard work and achievement of the new officers.

He says all of these officers have taken up the sacred oath to serve this nation and the Fijian people.

These 75 new recruits are part of the 254 new generation of police officers who have successfully undergone the necessary training needed to become members of the Fiji Police Force.

From these 75 officers, 39 had received their certificates in Lautoka, 19 in Nadi at the Prince Charles Park while the remaining 17 were presented with certificates at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Officers were also presented Fiji Police Medal, the Fiji Police Long Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Medal.

The Fiji Police Medal is awarded to conspicuous gallantry or exceptionally meritorious and recipients of this award are officers who have demonstrated conspicuous bravery in the performance of police duties while the Fiji Police Long Service Medal is awarded to recognize officers who have continuously served in the organization for 18 years and over with exemplary conduct and unblemished record.

The Overseas Service Medal is awarded to recognize officers who have served in any overseas Police Peace Keeping Missions.

Fiji Police Overseas Service Medals were awarded to PC Nilesh Kumar and Laisenia Seru, IP Herman Dass,Fiji Police Long Service Medals were awarded to Corporal Josevata Vakatawabeci, ASP Batidogu Nagata, ASP Aisake Kafoa, Corporal Kamilo Letevou, PC Mohammed Nazir, Sergeant Eremasi Vuli while Corporal Ajit Singh received the Fiji Police Medal.

Meanwhile, 179 new police recruits will receive their certificate at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori and also at the Nasova Ground in Nasese this Thursday.
