7 police officers charged with conspiracy to defeat the course of justice granted bail

Seven police officers who have been charged with conspiracy to defeat the course of justice have been granted bail by Chief Magistrate, Usaia Ratuvili.

Solomone Nute, Salacieli Tabalailai, Marika Iranasau, Koroi Lako-kilepanoni, Vilikesa Baledruma, Elizabeth Sautu and Romeo Nasila appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, it is alleged that the seven police officers conspired with each other to pervert or defeat the course of justice to make a false statement in relation to a traffic investigation at Kadavu Police Station.

The alleged incident happened on 5th May last year.

The case has been adjourned to the 31st of this month for plea.
