68 teams confirm their places for Marist 7s

Sixty-eight teams have confirmed their places in the 44th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s.

Marist Rugby Club President, Lawrence Tikaram says from these 68 teams, 48 teams will compete for the Men’s title, 12 teams will compete for the Under 20 title and 8 teams for the Women’s title.

He says they understand that there is an alert on coronavirus or COVID-19 globally, but the tournament will provide a way for Fijians to practice a healthy lifestyle.

The President says there are 12 pools for the Men’s competition where defending champions, Police Blue are pooled with Korolevu Rugby, Waidigi Salvo Rugby and Veiyasana Provider Blue.

He adds the Women’s category will have two pools while the Under 20 category will have three.

He says the competition will go on as scheduled from tomorrow which will feature all the pool matches for the Under 20 and the Women’s competition.

Tikaram adds that no international teams are playing in this years tournament.

The Fiji Bitter Marist 7s will kick-off tomorrow at 8am at the ANZ Stadium.
