Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar has revealed that she is very disappointed how Municipal Councils handle complaints by ratepayers however there is $62.8 million in unpaid rates.

While officiating at the Municipal Council Special Administrators Induction at the Holiday Inn, Kumar says serving the people is their core value and dealing with complaints in a professional manner is required from all staff.

She says sometimes Municipal Council staff try to block some investors in investing but their job is to guide these investors rather than turning them away.

Kumar also told the Special Administration that were present today that they should also come up with quality projects.

She says these projects should not be done just for the sake of doing a project but projects that have the vision of ratepayers.

The Minister also reveals that a total of 123 annual reports were tabled in Parliament during this financial year.
